# Use Hiveku from ChatGPT, Claude or Claude Code

> Connect ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code or another AI app to your Hiveku account with a key, so it can read and work in your account from its own chat

If you already work in ChatGPT, Claude or Claude Code, connect it to Hiveku. It can then look things up in your account and do the work there, such as adding a contact or checking your rankings, from its own chat. Each app gets its own key, which you can take back at any time.

This guide makes a key for an office ChatGPT on Northwind's account and shows the steps for connecting it.

## Choose how your AI works with Hiveku

Click **Settings** at the bottom of the left rail, then **API & Connectors** under **Developer**. There are two addresses to connect to, and the same key works for both:

* **Direct tools**: your AI uses Hiveku's tools itself, one at a time. Best when you know what you want done.
* **Chief of staff**: your AI talks to your account's chief of staff, who handles the request or passes it to the right department.

Two ways to connect

## Make a key

**1. Name the key**

Below the list of keys, click **Create Another Key** (or **Create API Key** for your first). Under **Key Name**, say which app it is for, such as Office ChatGPT.

**2. Choose what it may do**

Under **Access**, **Full access** lets the app read and change things. **Read-only** lets it look but never change anything, which is the safer choice for someone outside your team.

**Tool profile** only matters for command-line apps such as Claude Code: it narrows the list of tools they see. Leave it on **Full**.

**3. Generate it and copy it**

Click **Generate Key**. The key is shown once, at the top of **Setup Instructions**: copy it with the button next to it and keep it somewhere safe.

## Connect your app

Under **Setup Instructions**, open your app, such as **ChatGPT**, **Claude (claude.ai)**, **Claude Desktop** or **Claude Code**, and follow its steps. Each one has the address to paste, with a copy button.

The steps for ChatGPT (the key is hidden here)

For ChatGPT, you turn on developer mode in ChatGPT's settings, add a connector named Hiveku with the address shown, and paste your key on the Hiveku sign-in page that opens. Then switch the connector on in any chat.

## Good to know

* **Every key is listed** with the app's name, who connected it and when it was last used. The bin on a key turns it off at once; the app loses access.
* **More than one account?** Each account has its own addresses. Switch to the other account, make a key there and connect it as a second connector.
* **Using another AI app?** **Copy primer** gives a short introduction to paste into your first message, so the app knows its way around Hiveku.
