# Schedule a Post and See It on the Calendar

> Pick the day and time a post goes live, choose what your site does then, find it on the content calendar, and change or cancel it

Scheduling lets you finish a post now and have it go live later, for example next Wednesday at 9 AM. The content calendar shows everything that is scheduled and published, month by month.

This guide schedules Northwind's Huehuetenango story for Wednesday, October 28 at 9:00 AM, finds it on the calendar, and then cancels the schedule so the post stays a draft.

## Open the post

Click **Marketing** in the left rail, then the **Content Management** card. On the **Posts** tab, click the post.

![The Posts tab with the Origin Stories Draft Huehuetenango, Guatemala: The Story Behind the Name outlined, next to a post that is Live on your site](https://mintcdn.com/locusdigital/ySIXV0mU_PFKnBAx/images/how-tos/content/schedule-01-open-post-closeup.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=ySIXV0mU_PFKnBAx\&q=85\&s=f508184dfa71e2fcfc98aadc4db0d1be)

Only **Site Content** posts can be scheduled: they belong to your website, and scheduling publishes them there.

## Schedule it

**1. Click Schedule**

In the **Status** section on the right, click **Schedule**. (It is also in the **...** menu at the top right, as **Schedule…**.)

![The Status section with the Draft badge, Send to review, Archive, and the Schedule button outlined](https://mintcdn.com/locusdigital/ySIXV0mU_PFKnBAx/images/how-tos/content/schedule-02-button-closeup.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=ySIXV0mU_PFKnBAx\&q=85\&s=4b159cb3c7e71a14444767ff85ea3e92)

**2. Pick the time and what happens then**

In **Schedule publish**, pick the date and time under **Publish at**. Under **Then**, choose what your site does at that time:

* **Deploy to production when it publishes**: the post goes live on your site at the scheduled time. Pick this one in most cases.
* **Deploy to staging**: shown when your site has a staging environment.
* **Deploy to the dev preview**: the post goes to your Development site only.
* **Do not deploy; I will deploy myself**: the post is marked published at that time, but visitors only see it after your next deploy.

Click **Schedule**. Northwind picked **Do not deploy; I will deploy myself** so nothing would go live during this walkthrough.

![The Schedule publish box with Publish at 10/28/2026 09:00 AM, Do not deploy; I will deploy myself selected, and the Publish at box, that choice and the Schedule button outlined](https://mintcdn.com/locusdigital/ySIXV0mU_PFKnBAx/images/how-tos/content/schedule-03-dialog-closeup.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=ySIXV0mU_PFKnBAx\&q=85\&s=a99311137db907c10c9254d39bc8fdd7)

The post now has a **Scheduled** badge and says when it goes live. With **Do not deploy; I will deploy myself**, the line under it still says it goes live on its own: the post is marked published at that time and reaches visitors with your next deploy.

## See it on the calendar

**1. Open the Calendar tab**

Click **Calendar** at the top of the page.

**2. Find the post**

**Month** shows each post on its day, with its time. The colors match the key below the calendar: **Scheduled**, **Published**, **Failed** and **Recorded only**. The key also names the time zone the times are in.

**3. Switch to List**

Click **List** to see the month as a list (or **By cluster** to group posts by topic).

![October 2026 with Month, List and By cluster, and List outlined](https://mintcdn.com/locusdigital/ySIXV0mU_PFKnBAx/images/how-tos/content/schedule-07-views-closeup.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=ySIXV0mU_PFKnBAx\&q=85\&s=f8d520fafbd7403f87ee55b5c1a21759)

Each row shows the time, the status, the title, the website, the page's address, and after **deploy:** what deploys at that time (**none** means you chose to deploy yourself).

## Change or cancel it

**1. Open Change schedule**

Open the post again and click **...** at the top right, then **Change schedule…** (or **Change schedule** in the **Status** section).

![The menu next to the Scheduled badge and Publish, with Change schedule outlined](https://mintcdn.com/locusdigital/ySIXV0mU_PFKnBAx/images/how-tos/content/schedule-09-change-closeup.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=ySIXV0mU_PFKnBAx\&q=85\&s=efd28c11ccbdd0d95b7457ceee9fb0e9)

**2. Update it, or cancel it**

To move the post, pick a new time and click **Update schedule**. Look at **Then** first: it can open on **Deploy to production when it publishes** even when you chose something else, so pick your choice again. To stop the post from going out, click **Cancel schedule**.

![The Schedule publish box with Currently scheduled: Goes live at Oct 28, 2026, 9:00 AM, Deploy to production selected, and the Cancel schedule button outlined](https://mintcdn.com/locusdigital/ySIXV0mU_PFKnBAx/images/how-tos/content/schedule-10-cancel-closeup.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=ySIXV0mU_PFKnBAx\&q=85\&s=ffbd2c47a19eeee4e1d082b8ad45f453)

With the schedule canceled, the post is a **Draft** again, and the calendar no longer shows it.

## Good to know

* **Do not deploy** means the post goes out with the next deploy anyone on your team makes after its time, not on a day you pick. Use **Deploy to production when it publishes** if it should be live at that time.
* **Reviews.** If a teammate reviews your posts, schedule a post once it is approved, so the time you pick is the time it goes live.
* **Publish now.** **Publish** at the top right puts a scheduled post out straight away.
* **More:** [Scheduling and the Content Calendar](/marketing/content-calendar) and [Scheduled Publishing](/cms/scheduled-publishing) cover how the schedule runs.
