# Upload and Organize Your Photos

> Upload photos to your Media Library, sort them into folders, add free stock photos, and describe each one so your site and the AI can find it

Your Media Library holds the photos, videos and files for your website, social posts and emails. Folders keep them sorted, and a short description on each photo helps screen readers, search engines and the AI pick the right one.

This guide makes an "Origin photos" folder for Northwind's coffee-farm pictures, adds a free stock photo to it, and describes one of the photos.

## Open the Media Library

In the left rail, click **Marketing**, then the **Media Library** card.

## Make a folder

Click **New folder** at the top of the page, type a name and click **Create folder**. The folder is listed under **Folders** on the left.

## Upload your photos

**1. Click Upload files**

Click the folder on the left to open it, then click **Upload files**. You can also drag files from your computer straight onto the page; it shows **Drop to upload to** and the folder's name.

**2. Choose the files and upload them**

Click **Choose files** (or drag more files into the box). Check that **Save to folder** shows your folder, then click the upload button, which counts your files (here **Upload 3 files**). Each file can be up to 50 MB.

The photos are in the folder, with the folder's count next to its name.

## Describe a photo

**1. Open the photo and click Edit details**

Click a photo to open its details on the right, then click **Edit details**.

**2. Fill in the details and save**

* **Alt text**: what is in the picture. Screen readers read it aloud, and it is filled in for you when you put the photo on your site.
* **Description**: what the photo is for, so you and the AI know when to use it.
* **Tags**: a few words separated by commas, to find the photo later.

Click **Save changes**.

The details now show the alt text. The same panel has **Download**, **Copy link** (a link to the file you can paste anywhere) and **Edit with AI**.

## Move several photos at once

**1. Select the photos**

Tick the box in the top corner of each photo you want to move.

**2. Click Move to and pick the folder**

In the bar at the bottom, click **Move to**, then pick the folder under **Move to folder** (or **New folder…** to make one).

## Good to know

* **Stock photo credits.** A stock photo's details show a **Credit** line with the photographer's name. Keep the credit when you publish the photo.
* **Use your photos anywhere.** They are in the picture boxes of the site builder, the post editor and the social composer. To swap a photo on your website, see [Replace a Photo on Your Site](/how-tos/site-builder/replace-a-photo).
* **Make new pictures.** **Create with AI**, next to **Browse stock**, makes or changes a picture for you. See [Create or Edit a Picture with AI](/how-tos/content/ai-images).
* **More:** [Media Library and AI Images](/design/media-library) covers what happens to every file in the library.
