# Turn Your Website Pages into Help Articles

> Let your website assistant read your site, have it draft help articles from your pages, and check each draft before you publish it

Your website already answers a lot of questions: how fresh your coffee is, where it comes from, how you ship. Your website assistant can read your published pages and draft help articles from them, so you start from a draft instead of a blank page. Nothing reaches visitors until you check a draft and publish it.

This guide drafts help articles from Northwind's website and opens one to check it.

## Let it read your website

**1. Open the website assistant**

Click **Helpdesk** in the left rail, then **Website assistant** at the top.

**2. Switch on your website pages**

Under **Where it finds answers**, switch on **Your website pages**, then click **Save** at the top of the page. The assistant reads up to 200 pages of your published website every week, and skips pages that ask not to be indexed, login pages and checkout pages. Reading your site uses AI credits.

**3. Read it now**

Click **Read my website now** for a fresh read after you publish changes. Owners and admins can click it up to three times a day. The line above the buttons says when it last read your site and how many pages it can use.

![Your website pages switched on, with Northwind's two site addresses, Last read Oct 20, 2026: 21 pages the assistant can use, Read my website now and Draft help articles from my website, outlined, and See the pages it read, outlined](https://mintcdn.com/locusdigital/QdfcSHhMQssuKqMa/images/how-tos/helpdesk/wa-01-website-pages-closeup.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=QdfcSHhMQssuKqMa\&q=85\&s=bc16751f44cfb80d3425ae3275c32386)

**See the pages it read** lists every page. **Keep out** on a page stops the assistant from using it.

![Hide the pages it read, outlined, and the list of Northwind's pages with their addresses, each with a Keep out button, the first one outlined](https://mintcdn.com/locusdigital/QdfcSHhMQssuKqMa/images/how-tos/helpdesk/wa-04-pages-it-read-closeup.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=QdfcSHhMQssuKqMa\&q=85\&s=023924de05e756c27729c2174c09668f)

## Draft articles from your pages

Click **Draft help articles from my website**. In a minute, a message says how many drafts it wrote. Each press drafts a few articles from a few of your pages. Owners and admins can draft, and drafting uses AI credits.

The drafts are in **Agent** > **Knowledge base** (the **Help articles** link under the buttons opens them), marked **Draft** and tagged **from-website**. Northwind got eight, about its coffees, how they are processed, and how fresh they are.

![The Knowledge base with one public article and eight new articles tagged from-website, each marked Draft, outlined](https://mintcdn.com/locusdigital/QdfcSHhMQssuKqMa/images/how-tos/helpdesk/wa-02-drafts-closeup.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=QdfcSHhMQssuKqMa\&q=85\&s=73cdbd95bb1dc310e26cdae54271e0ef)

## Check each draft, then publish it

Click a draft to read it. Each one says which page it came from. Check every fact against that page and what you actually do: an article is only as right as the page it was drafted from.

![The draft How fresh is Northwind's roasted coffee?, marked Draft, outlined; its text, Every bag leaves Portland within 48 hours of the roast date, with Source and the page's address and the from-website tag, outlined; and the Edit button, outlined](https://mintcdn.com/locusdigital/QdfcSHhMQssuKqMa/images/how-tos/helpdesk/wa-03-a-draft-closeup.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=QdfcSHhMQssuKqMa\&q=85\&s=9c31e96f2e97b8c1fd2f13d742281b26)

Click **Edit** to fix anything, then set **Visibility** to **Public (customer help center)** and click **Publish**, as in [Write a Help Article Customers Can Find](/how-tos/helpdesk/write-a-help-article). Of your help articles, your assistant uses only the published, public ones, so a draft you don't need can stay a draft: it never reaches visitors.

## Good to know

* **Keep your site and your articles in step.** When a page changes, the weekly read picks it up for the assistant, but a published article keeps its own text: update the article too.
