# Add a File Your Visitors Can Download

> Attach a PDF in the builder chat, have the AI put a download link on a page, and check the link in the preview before you publish

A price list, a menu or a brochure is easier to share as a file people can download. Attach the file in the builder chat and tell the AI where the link goes: it saves the file with your site and adds the link for you.

This guide adds Northwind's wholesale price sheet, a one-page PDF, to the Wholesale page on Northwind's site, so cafés can download it before they apply.

## Attach the file

**1. Open your site and start a new chat**

Open your site in the builder (see [Open Your Site in the Builder](/how-tos/site-builder/open-your-site)) and click **New** at the top of the chat.

**2. Click the paperclip**

Click the paperclip at the bottom left of the chat box, then **Upload from device**, and pick the file. You can also drag the file onto the chat box.

The file shows as a tile above the chat box. The chat takes PDF, Word, Excel and text files up to 25 MB each.

## Ask for the link

**1. Say where the link goes**

In the chat box, say which page the link goes on, the words of the link, and where on the page it should sit. For Northwind we typed:

Add this PDF to the site and put a "Download our wholesale price sheet" link to it on the Wholesale page, just above the inquiry form. Change nothing else.
```

**2. Send it**

Press **Enter**, or click the arrow. The AI saves the file with your site, adds the link and checks the page. For Northwind it took about two minutes.

When it is done, it says where it put the file and the link.

The file gets its own address on your site, here `/documents/northwind-wholesale-price-sheet.pdf`. You can link to it from anywhere, such as an email or a social post, once the site is published.

## Check the link in the preview

Open the page in the preview: pick it from the page menu at the top of the preview. The link is where you asked for it. Click it, and the file opens in a new tab.

To see the file itself, click the file tree icon (**Show File Tree**) at the top of the preview. Files the AI adds this way are in **public**, then **documents**.

## Publish it

The link and the file are saved, but visitors only see them after your next publish. When you are happy with the page, click **Deploy** (see [Publish Your Changes](/how-tos/site-builder/publish)). If you change your mind first, click **Undo this turn** above your request in the chat (see [Undo a Change](/how-tos/site-builder/undo-a-change)).

## Good to know

* **The AI adds a file only when you ask.** An attachment you remove before you send is not added to your site.
* **One message can carry up to 20 files**, for example a menu and a price list at once. Say which link goes with which file.
* **It uses AI credits**, like any other chat with the AI.
