# Follow Up a Lead from Your Website

> Find a person who filled in a form on your site, read what they sent, log your call, and set an owner, a status and a deal

When someone fills in a form on your site and gives an email address, Hiveku adds them to your CRM as a contact, or adds the form to their contact if they are already there. Submissions filed as spam, and forms you have turned off in form capture, do not become contacts. This guide follows one lead from the form to a deal.

In this example Priya Shah of Fernwood Bakery asked for wholesale pricing on the Northwind site's Wholesale page. See [See Who Filled In Your Forms](/how-tos/site-builder/form-submissions) for how the form and its emails work.

## Find the lead

**1. Open your contacts**

Click **CRM** in the left rail, then **Contacts** at the top. The newest contacts are at the top of the list.

**2. Search for the person**

Type their name or email address in the search box. Then click their name to open the contact.

## Read what they sent

The contact page shows the person on the left and everything that happened with them under **Activity**. Click the form entry (it reads **Submitted a form on /wholesale**, or **Submitted form:** and the form's name) to open what they typed: the fields of the form and, when Hiveku recorded the visit, the page they sent it from, how they reached your site, their device and their location.

> [!TIP]
>
> The field names come from the labels on your form. If a form shows something odd, such as its placeholder text instead of "Business name", ask the AI in the site builder to give every field a clear label.

## Log your call

**1. Choose Log call**

Click **Log activity** at the top of the activity, then **Log call**. The same menu logs an email, a note, a meeting or a task, and a text message when your phone service is set up.

**2. Write what happened**

Type a short summary: what you talked about and what happens next. Then click **Save call**.

**3. Check the timeline**

The call is now at the top of the activity, with your name on it, so anyone on your team who opens the contact sees it.

## Set the status and the owner

**1. Open Edit**

Click **Edit** under the person's name. Their details open as a form on the left.

**2. Pick a lead status**

Open **Lead status** and pick where this lead is. Here, after the call, it is **Contacted**. Lead status shows while the contact's **Lifecycle** is **Lead**. New, Contacted, Replied, Qualified, Nurture and Unqualified are the starting choices; you can change them in the CRM settings.

**3. Pick an owner and save**

Open **Owner** and pick the teammate who looks after this lead. Then click **Save**.

**4. Check the contact**

After a moment the badge under the name reads **Contacted**, and the owner shows under **Contact info**.

![Priya Shah with the badges Lead and Contacted, and Owner: Jamie Holloway under Contact info, outlined](https://mintcdn.com/locusdigital/GcLJ5KPQ7ho0mufU/images/how-tos/site-builder/crm-08-status-updated-closeup.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=GcLJ5KPQ7ho0mufU\&q=85\&s=a07da799c858792323a32f278466584c)

> [!TIP]
>
> To see only your own leads, click **Filters** on the contact list and pick yourself under **Owner**.

## Start a deal

When the lead turns into a likely sale, track it as a deal.

**1. Open Create deal**

On the contact, under **Deals**, click **Create deal**.

**2. Fill in the deal and create it**

Give the deal a name, pick the **Pipeline** and the **Stage** it is at, and add the **Value**, its **Currency** and the **Expected close date** if you know them. Then click **Create & Link Deal**. The deal is created and linked to this contact.

![The New Deal form: Deal name Fernwood Bakery wholesale, Pipeline Wholesale Sales, Stage Tasting Sent, Value 5040 USD, Expected close date 11/20/2026, and the Create & Link Deal button outlined](https://mintcdn.com/locusdigital/GcLJ5KPQ7ho0mufU/images/how-tos/site-builder/crm-09-new-deal-closeup.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=GcLJ5KPQ7ho0mufU\&q=85\&s=37d127eab291b5e37708192432976e0c)

The pipeline and its stages are your own: Northwind's wholesale pipeline goes Lead, Tasting Sent, Negotiating, Closed Won. See your deals on a board, one pipeline at a time, under **CRM > Deals**.

## Good to know

* **Form leads with an email address become contacts**, unless the submission is filed as spam or that form is turned off in form capture. You can also add contacts yourself with **New Contact**, or bring a list in with **Import CSV**.
* **Everything about a person is in one place.** Their form submissions, visits to your site, emails, calls, notes and meetings all show under **Activity**, newest first.
* **More about contacts:** [Add and Manage CRM Contacts](/how-tos/crm-contacts).
