# Set Up the CMS on Your Site

> Turn on your site's CMS with one click, get a blog collection with its first post, and see where to go next

The CMS lets you and your team edit lists of content, such as blog posts, products or team members, without touching code. A new site doesn't have one yet. Setting it up takes one click.

This guide sets up the CMS on a new, empty Northwind site.

## Set it up

**1. Open the CMS**

Open your site in the builder and click the **CMS** icon in the row of icons above the preview.

**2. Click Set up with blog scaffold**

A site without a CMS shows **Set up your CMS**. Click **Set up with blog scaffold**: Hiveku adds a **Blog Posts** collection with one example post.

Set up your CMS

Want something other than a blog? Click **Start from a preset or design your own instead** to pick a ready-made collection, such as products or team members, or make your own (see [Add a New Kind of Content to Your CMS](/how-tos/site-builder/add-a-content-type.md)).

## What you get

A few seconds later, **Blog Posts** is listed under **Collections**, with its first entry, **Hello, World**, as a draft.

![Collections: Blog Posts with 1 entry, outlined; the note We couldn't find a page that shows this list, with Draft a request in chat; and the entry Hello, World, Draft, outlined](https://mintcdn.com/locusdigital/oEOBDWYK2INmSVl8/images/how-tos/site-builder/sc-03-blog-closeup.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=oEOBDWYK2INmSVl8\&q=85\&s=8f9e8b517a036a02833e9ef4b2ce415d)

The blog collection and its first post

Click the entry to see the details each blog post has: a title, an SEO description, the date it's published, a status, a cover image, tags, and the post itself under **Content**.

![The Hello, World entry with its fields outlined: title, SEO description, Published at, status, Cover image with Browse, Media library and Upload, and tags; and Publish, outlined, under Status, Draft](https://mintcdn.com/locusdigital/oEOBDWYK2INmSVl8/images/how-tos/site-builder/sc-04-entry-closeup.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=oEOBDWYK2INmSVl8\&q=85\&s=8d589185750b8ea25ed5de13294661a1)

A blog post's details

The example post is there to show the shape of a post: write your own over it, or delete it.

## Show the posts on your site

The yellow note says no page shows the list yet. Click **Draft a request in chat**, or ask the builder AI yourself, for a blog page, such as "add a blog page that lists the published posts, newest first". Then [publish your changes](/how-tos/site-builder/publish.md).

## Good to know

* **Write and publish posts:** see [Write and Publish a Blog Post](/how-tos/site-builder/write-a-blog-post.md).
* **Edit any collection's entries:** see [Edit Your Content in the CMS](/how-tos/site-builder/edit-cms-content.md).
* **Site already has content files?** If your site's code already keeps posts or other content in files, the button reads **Enable CMS for this site** instead: your files stay where they are and become collections you can edit.
