# Buy a Domain

> Search for a web address, see what it costs each year, and register it in Hiveku with the contact details the registry needs

A domain is your site's address, such as northwindroasters.com. You can search for one and buy it without leaving Hiveku. It is paid for a year at a time and charged to the card on your account.

This guide searches for an address for Northwind and goes as far as the last step before paying.

## Search for a name

**1. Open Domains**

Open **Settings** (your picture at the bottom of the left rail), then **Domains**.

**2. Type a name and search**

Under **Find a domain**, type the name you want on its own, without .com, and click **Search**. You see whether it is free with each ending, and its price per year. The buttons under the box show only some endings, only free names, or the cheapest first.

## Register it

**1. Click Buy**

Click **Buy** next to the one you want. The price is shown again, with what it renews at. Under **Register for**, choose how many years to pay for now.

The price and how many years

**2. Fill in your contact details**

Domain registries need a name, email, phone and street address for every domain. Use an email address you read, and not one on the domain you are buying: the registry sends a link to it, and a domain whose link is not clicked within fifteen days is suspended.

**3. Accept and register**

Tick **I accept the domain registration agreement** and click **Register for**. Your card is charged and the domain is added to **Connected domains** on the same page.

The last step: this is where you pay

Northwind stopped here, so nothing was bought.

## Good to know

* **Prices are held for fifteen minutes** after a search. Search again if you come back later.
