# Connecting Social Accounts

> Connect Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, and Google Business Profile in one click — no developer setup, no API keys to manage

Before you can publish, tailor, or track a post, you connect the accounts you want to post to. Hiveku publishes to every platform **directly** through its own connections — no third-party scheduler in between. You'll manage all of this from **Marketing > Social > Accounts**.

<Info>
  Supported platforms: **Facebook Pages, Instagram Business, LinkedIn (personal profiles and company/org Pages), X (Twitter), TikTok, and Google Business Profile.**
</Info>

## Two ways to connect

Every platform connects in one of two ways. You pick per account, and you can switch later just by reconnecting.

* **Connect with Hiveku (one click)** — Hiveku owns the OAuth apps, so there's no per-customer developer setup and no API keys to paste. Sign in to your business account, pick the Page, profile, or location you want, and you're done.
* **Use your own app (BYOK)** — Prefer your own brand on the consent screen and your own API quota? Create a free developer app on the platform (a guided, one-time setup) and Hiveku uses it instead.

<Tip>
  Either path produces the same connection, post history, and analytics. Switching between them later is just a reconnect — nothing else changes.
</Tip>

## Connect an account

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Accounts tab">
    Go to **Marketing > Social > Accounts**. Each platform shows a **Connect Account** button.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick your path">
    The connect dialog offers **Connect with Hiveku** when it's available for that platform, and a **Use your own app** option with the exact redirect URI to copy and honest notes on what the platform allows.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Authorize in the popup">
    Complete the platform's consent screen while logged into the business account you want to post from.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick what to connect">
    If the platform hands back more than one thing you manage — several Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts, LinkedIn company Pages, or Google Business locations — Hiveku shows a picker. Check the ones you want; the rest stay available to activate later.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Per-platform notes

Each platform connects the same way, but each has one thing worth knowing before you post. Open the one you're wiring up.

  <Accordion title="Facebook Pages" icon="facebook">
    **What you connect:** a Facebook Page (not your personal timeline). Its linked Instagram Business account comes along in the same consent.

    **The gotcha:** Page tokens don't expire, so a Facebook connection generally stays live without periodic reconnects.

    Full walkthrough: [Facebook & Instagram](/how-tos/connect-meta-social).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Instagram Business" icon="instagram">
    **What you connect:** an Instagram Business account, connected alongside its linked Facebook Page in one Meta consent.

    **The gotcha:** every Instagram post **requires media** — a JPEG image or a video. Text-only posts are rejected. Up to 10 images publish as a single carousel.

    Full walkthrough: [Facebook & Instagram](/how-tos/connect-meta-social).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="LinkedIn" icon="linkedin">
    **What you connect:** your personal LinkedIn profile, a company/organization Page, or both.

    **The gotcha:** posting to a personal profile is instant, but to post to a company/org Page you must be an **admin** of that Page. If you don't administer it, LinkedIn won't return it in the picker.

    Full walkthrough: [LinkedIn](/how-tos/connect-linkedin-social).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="X (Twitter)" icon="x-twitter">
    **What you connect:** an X account you post from.

    **The gotcha:** X is a **Premium feature.** X's API bills per post, so publishing to X requires the Premium plan and is capped at **60 posts per month per account**. Posts also enforce the 280-character limit — add a per-platform X override for a shorter version.

    Full walkthrough: [X (Twitter)](/how-tos/connect-x).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="TikTok" icon="tiktok">
    **What you connect:** your TikTok account.

    **The gotcha:** TikTok publishes as a **draft to your TikTok inbox** — you open the TikTok app to pick the audience, set the caption, and post. The Hiveku post shows **Publishing** until you finalize it, and TikTok allows at most 5 pending drafts per 24 hours.

    Full walkthrough: [TikTok](/how-tos/connect-tiktok).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Google Business Profile" icon="google">
    **What you connect:** a Google Business Profile location, for local posts with one photo and an optional link button. If you've already connected Google Business Profile for SEO, Hiveku can reuse that connection.

    **The gotcha:** leave phone numbers out of the post text — Google rejects posts that include them. Analytics are profile-level only (Google discontinued per-post statistics).

    Full walkthrough: [Google Business Posts](/how-tos/connect-gbp-social).

</AccordionGroup>

<Warning>
  **X (Twitter) is a Premium feature.** Because X's API bills per post, publishing to X requires the Premium plan and is capped at **60 posts per month per account**. Everything else about X — 280-character enforcement, per-platform overrides, scheduling — works like any other network.
</Warning>

## Reconnecting

Platforms occasionally revoke or expire a connection — a password change, a token expiry, or a permission that was removed on the platform's side. When that happens, Hiveku notifies you and the account shows a **red status** in **Marketing > Social > Accounts**.

Reconnecting is the same popup flow you used the first time. **Your post history and analytics are preserved** — a reconnect refreshes the credentials without touching anything you've already published or scheduled.

<Tip>
  Reconnecting is also how you switch a connection between **Connect with Hiveku** and **Use your own app**. Pick the other path in the dialog; the account, its history, and its analytics carry straight over.
