Every Hiveku login is anchored to a single account, called its home account. It is set when your profile is first created, and it almost never changes after that. Most people never need to think about this. It matters in exactly one situation: when someone deletes an account.

How your home account gets set

Your home account is whichever account you were first created in.
  • Invited to an account first? That account becomes your home account.
  • Signed up on your own first? Hiveku creates a personal workspace for you, usually named something like “Your Name’s Workspace”, and that becomes your home account. This happens even if you never use it again.
Being invited to more accounts later adds access to those accounts. It does not change your home account. There is one exception. If your home account is a personal workspace you never used, and you accept an invitation somewhere else, Hiveku tidies up by moving your home account to the account you just joined and removing the empty one. This only happens when the workspace is completely untouched.
This is why you might see a workspace you do not remember creating. If you signed up before anyone invited you, that personal workspace is still your home account even though your real work happens elsewhere.

Why it matters

Deleting an account does not only delete that account’s data. It also deletes the profile of every person whose home account it is, and that removes them from every other account they belong to.
If someone’s home account is deleted, they lose access to all of their accounts, not just that one. Their sign-in still exists but has no profile behind it, so they cannot get into anything until support restores them.
Removing the person from the account’s team list first does not prevent this. Removing someone from a team changes their membership, and the home account is a separate thing. Hiveku now blocks this. An account cannot be deleted while it is the home account of someone who belongs to other accounts. The person has to be moved first.

Checking before you delete

Before deleting an account, ask whether anyone treats it as their home account. If they do and they work in other accounts too, they need to be moved first. If you are not sure, email support@hiveku.com with the account name and we will check it for you.

Moving a profile to a different account

To move someone’s home account, email support@hiveku.com with:
  • the person’s email address
  • the account their profile should move to
One condition applies: they must already be a member of the account they are moving to. A home account can only move somewhere the person already belongs, because moving them into an account they are not part of would give them access they never had. If they are not a member yet, add them first, then request the move. Moving a home account does not change any of their memberships, including the one they are moving away from. They keep the same access everywhere. What changes is which account they land in when they sign in without picking one.
After a move, an open browser tab pointed at the old account may send them back to their new home account the next time it loads. That is expected and nothing has been lost.
