Every project starts with a free subdomain at yourproject.hiveku.com. You can connect your own custom domain with automatic SSL certificate provisioning.

Domain setup wizard

1

Open domain settings

Go to Settings > Domain in your project.
2

Start the wizard

Click Add Custom Domain to open the setup wizard.
3

Enter your domain

Type your domain name (e.g., www.example.com or example.com).
4

Add a CNAME record

The wizard displays a CNAME record to add at your DNS provider. The record points your domain to Hiveku’s servers.
TypeNameValue
CNAMEwwwcname.hiveku.com
For apex domains (e.g., example.com without www), use an ALIAS or ANAME record if your DNS provider supports it, or set up a redirect from the apex to www.
5

SSL is auto-provisioned

Once DNS propagates, Hiveku automatically provisions a free SSL certificate via Let’s Encrypt. Your site is served over HTTPS with no additional configuration.
6

Verify

The wizard checks your DNS records and confirms when everything is connected. A green checkmark appears next to your domain.

Verifying DNS

After adding the CNAME record, DNS propagation can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours. You can check propagation status with tools like dnschecker.org.
Most DNS changes propagate within 5-15 minutes. If your domain isn’t connecting after an hour, double-check the CNAME record values in your DNS provider’s dashboard.

Cloudflare users

If you use Cloudflare for DNS, keep these settings in mind:
Set your Cloudflare DNS record to DNS Only (gray cloud icon), not Proxied (orange cloud). Hiveku needs to handle SSL and routing directly. If you want to use Cloudflare’s proxy, set Cloudflare’s SSL mode to Full (Strict) to avoid redirect loops.

Multiple domains

Depending on your plan tier, you can connect multiple domains to a single project:
  • One domain is designated as the Primary domain — this is the canonical URL for your site
  • Additional domains redirect to the primary domain automatically

Removing a domain

Go to Settings > Domain, click the trash icon next to the domain you want to remove, and confirm. The SSL certificate is revoked and the domain is disconnected immediately. Your site remains accessible at its hiveku.com subdomain.
