When the same unwanted number keeps calling, add it to your blocked numbers. Calls from it are turned away without ringing anyone. The same list can also stop your team from calling a number. This guide blocks a made-up robocaller’s number on Northwind’s account, then removes it again.

Open Blocked numbers

Click Communications (the phone) in the left rail, then Admin at the top, then Blocked numbers. Click Block a number.
Blocked numbers: numbers on this list are silently rejected on inbound and refused on outbound; 0 numbers blocked, No numbers blocked yet, and Block a number outlined

Blocked numbers, with Block a number outlined

Add the number

Fill in the three boxes:
  • Phone: the number with its country code and no spaces, for example +15035550199. A 10-digit US number such as 5035550199 works too.
  • Reason: a short note for your team, so they know why it’s there.
  • Direction: Both blocks calls from the number and calls to it. Inbound only blocks only calls from it, and Outbound only stops your team calling it.
Click Block.
The Block a number form: Phone +15035550199, Reason Repeated robocalls about our car warranty, Direction Both, and the Block button outlined

The number, a reason and Both, ready to block

Type the number without spaces, dashes or brackets. With them, the form shows an error and the number isn’t blocked.
The number appears in the list with its direction and reason.
1 number blocked: +15035550199, Both, Repeated robocalls about our car warranty, outlined, with a trash icon to remove it

Good to know

  • Blocked callers aren’t told why. Their call is turned away and nobody’s phone rings.
  • The list covers your whole account, every phone number and every teammate.
  • Phones first: blocking works once your account has phones set up. See Get a Local or Toll-Free Number.
