Commerce has a set of reports built from your invoices and payments. This guide reads Northwind’s: the Sales overview, revenue by client, the tax summary and the invoice details.

Open the reports

Click Commerce in the left rail. Under Reports in the menu are Sales, Recurring revenue, Accounts aging, Revenue by client, Invoice details and Tax summary, among others. Start with Sales.

See revenue by client

Click Revenue by client. Pick the period at the top (Northwind used Year to date), then choose Invoiced for what you billed or Collected for what was paid.

Revenue by client: the period, Invoiced or Collected, and the totals

The bar shows each client’s share, and the table adds what each one has paid and still owes. Click a column heading to sort by it.
The Revenue by client bar and the By client table: Quillfeather Bakehouse 3 invoices $2,846.00, Ninebark Hotel $1,688.00, Pinecrest Design Collective $1,485.00, Copperleaf Books and Coffee $1,442.00, with Paid, Outstanding and Share columns and a Total of $7,461.00; draft, void, uncollectible and refunded invoices are not counted

Each client's share, and what they've paid and still owe

Draft invoices aren’t counted, so a draft doesn’t make a client look bigger than they are.

Check the tax you collected

Click Tax summary. Cash shows the tax on payments you received in the period, and Accrual shows the tax on invoices you issued in it, paid or not. Use the one your accountant asks for.
Tax summary, Year to date, paid Jan 1 to Oct 21, 2026, with Cash and Accrual outlined; Tax collected $0.00, Taxable sales collected $0.00, Non-taxable collected $5,561.00, Total sales collected $5,561.00 from 9 payments

Tax summary, with Cash or Accrual

Northwind doesn’t charge tax on these sales, so its tax is $0.00. When you do, By tax lists each rate and By month gives a month-by-month list you can export.

See every invoice by status

Click Invoice details. It shows every invoice issued in the period, grouped by status (draft, sent, paid, partly paid and others), then lists them one by one with what is still due.
Invoices by status for this month: Draft 5 invoices $3,405.50, Sent or viewed 0, Paid 1 invoice $698.00, Partly paid 0, Other 0; then the Invoices list with issue date, number, client, status, balance, before tax and total
