Scheduling lets you finish a post now and have it go live later, for example next Wednesday at 9 AM. The content calendar shows everything that is scheduled and published, month by month. This guide schedules Northwind’s Huehuetenango story for Wednesday, October 28 at 9:00 AM, finds it on the calendar, and then cancels the schedule so the post stays a draft.

Open the post

Click Marketing in the left rail, then the Content Management card. On the Posts tab, click the post.

Only Site Content posts can be scheduled: they belong to your website, and scheduling publishes them there.

Pick the time and what happens then

In Schedule publish, pick the date and time under Publish at. Under Then, choose what your site does at that time:
  • Deploy to production when it publishes: the post goes live on your site at the scheduled time. Pick this one in most cases.
  • Deploy to staging: shown when your site has a staging environment.
  • Deploy to the dev preview: the post goes to your Development site only.
  • Do not deploy; I will deploy myself: the post is marked published at that time, but visitors only see it after your next deploy.
Click Schedule. Northwind picked Do not deploy; I will deploy myself so nothing would go live during this walkthrough.

Wednesday at 9:00 AM

The post now has a Scheduled badge and says when it goes live. With Do not deploy; I will deploy myself, the line under it still says it goes live on its own: the post is marked published at that time and reaches visitors with your next deploy.

Good to know

  • Do not deploy means the post goes out with the next deploy anyone on your team makes after its time, not on a day you pick. Use Deploy to production when it publishes if it should be live at that time.
  • Reviews. If a teammate reviews your posts, schedule a post once it is approved, so the time you pick is the time it goes live.
  • Publish now. Publish at the top right puts a scheduled post out straight away.
  • More: Scheduling and the Content Calendar and Scheduled Publishing cover how the schedule runs.
