When someone else should read a post before it goes out, send it to review. Your owners and admins are told it is waiting, and a teammate who can edit posts approves it or sends it back to draft. The teammate who created the post in Hiveku (not the author named on its byline) cannot approve it while someone else on the team could. This guide sends Northwind’s draft “Kenya Nyeri: Roasting a Bright Coffee Gently” to review, shows what its writer sees, adds a comment asking for changes, and returns it to draft. Northwind’s other approver is its owner, Jamie Holloway, so the approver’s side is described in words.

Who is told

Your account’s owners and admins get a notification in the bell at the bottom of the left rail, and on their phone if they use the Hiveku app. It says who sent which post, in the form Name sent “Post title” for review, with Open it to approve it or return it to draft. They also get an email if their notification settings send them one.
  • The writer, and whoever sent the post to review, are not told.
  • If no owner or admin is left to tell, the teammates who can approve the post are told instead.
  • To stop these notices, each person turns off Tasks in Settings > Notifications; that also stops their other task notices.

Approve it

Anyone who can edit posts can approve one: owners, admins, and teammates whose role lets them edit posts. They open the post and click Approve at the top. The badge changes to Approved, and the post is ready for Publish. The teammate who created the post cannot approve it while someone else on the team could. For them, Approve is grayed out, pointing at it shows who can approve, and the Status section says so too. A writer who is the only person who could approve may approve it.

Good to know

  • Scheduled posts wait. A post you schedule while it is in review goes live only once it is approved: at its time, or within a few minutes of the approval if that time has passed. See Schedule a Post.
  • Review does not lock the post. While it is in review, Publish is still in the Status section for anyone who can publish, so the review works when your team waits for Approve.
  • Comments stay with the post after it is approved or returned to draft.
