Every post carries a named author: the byline readers see, and the author search engines read in the page’s details. Your first author is the default, and posts that name no one go out under them. Add more authors so the right person signs each post. This guide adds Northwind’s lead roaster, Marisol Vance, as a second author with a headshot from the Media Library, picks her on a new draft, and keeps Jamie Holloway as the default.

Open Authors

In the left rail, click Marketing, then the Content Management card. Click the Authors tab.

Or change it later

In the post, the Author list under Byline and structure on the right changes it, and the line below says how the byline reads.

The byline in the editor

Where the byline shows

On your site, the byline sits under the post’s title once the post is published.

A byline on a published Northwind post

Some site designs read the byline from a plain author box of their own, as Northwind’s does. If the post’s Collection fields have an author box, type the author’s name there too, so the page and the post agree.

Good to know

  • One default. There is always one default author while you have any. To change it, click Make default on another author; you cannot delete the default while other authors exist.
  • Deleting an author keeps their posts: those posts go out under the default author from then on.
  • The count on each row (for example 2 items) opens the posts that author is on.
  • More: Authors, Briefs and Titles explains how the author is added to each published page.
