Already have a website somewhere else? Hiveku can read its pages by their address and rebuild them in a new Hiveku site, so you start from what you have instead of a blank page. Your old site stays as it is. This guide brings five pages of Northwind’s site, www.northwindroasters.com, into a new Hiveku site.

Start an import

Click Websites in the left rail, then New Site at the top right (see Create a New Website). Under Other ways to start, click Import a URL.

Tell it what to bring in

1

The address and a name

Type your site’s address in Website URL, starting with https://. Hiveku suggests a Site Name from it; change it if you like, using letters, numbers and hyphens, up to 40 characters.

2

How many pages, and how

Under How many pages, pick Just the home page, Up to 5 pages or Up to 10 pages. Fewer pages is faster, and you can ask the AI to bring in more later.Under What to bring in, keep Copy the site as it is to rebuild each page with its own layout, text and pictures, or pick Bring in the text and pictures only to put them into a fresh Hiveku design. Then click Import Website.

Keep the page open

Hiveku reads your site, then creates the new one. Keep the page open until your new site opens. For Northwind this took about 15 seconds.

Let the AI rebuild the pages

Your new site opens in the builder, and the AI starts rebuilding the pages from what was read. Your request is already in the chat, so you don’t need to type anything.

The request, already sent for you

Leave it to work. You can follow each step in the chat. Northwind’s five pages took about 40 minutes, because the AI rebuilds every section and its pictures one by one. When it finishes, the AI lists the pages it rebuilt and says what it could not do. Things that repeat, such as Northwind’s coffees, stories and cafés, go into your site’s CMS, so you can edit them later without touching the pages.

Check each page

Pick a page in the list at the top of the preview to see it. Compare it with your old site, and ask the AI in the chat to fix anything that looks different.

Nothing goes live until you publish: see Publish Your Changes. If you don’t need the copy, delete it: see Rename or Delete a Site.

Good to know

  • Your old site is not changed. Hiveku only reads it.
  • Links to pages you didn’t bring in still point to your old site, and shop buttons stay switched off until you set up checkout in Hiveku. The AI says which ones in its summary.
  • It copies what it reads. A typo on your old site comes across too, so read each page before you publish.
  • The rebuild uses your AI credits. Bringing in fewer pages uses fewer.
